Albir is located on the coast and is a small town between Benidorm and Altea and is part of Alfaz del Pi which is on the other side of the main route. In Albir, about 5,000 inhabitants live and in the municipality about 20,000. Most of the buildings are low, because you cannot build more than a maximum of 4 floors.
Playa de Racó is Albir's beach which is 600 meters long and consists of small small stones. From the beach you look out to the Calpe cliff. The beach is very well maintained and has blue flags. One of Albir's most popular walking routes is the road to the lighthouse located in the Sierra Helada area.
The road there is just over 2 km on winding roads after the mountain edge and it is incredibly beautiful. The second walk is Paseo de las Estrellas, which runs along the sea, a fine marble beach walk with stars in the ground to honor the stars who won awards at Albir's film festival.
In Albir's central parts there is no height difference so this is how you get there with ease on foot. Here you can find all possible shopping with clothing and jewelry stores, flower shops, Chinese bazaars, sports and shoe stores to name a few.
In Albir there is a large selection of restaurants, bars and cafes, many with international character.
On Sundays there is a market in the large car park on the main street and during the summer months there is a craft fair down on the boardwalk.
Bodegas Mendoza is a nice winery located between Albir and Alfaz del Pi and well worth a visit. Here you can book yourself on a nice guided wine tour that ends with wine tasting and for those who want it is good to buy wine with them.

Albir has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers, mild winters, minimal rainfall and over 320 days of sunshine per year.

The distance between Alicante and Albir is about 50 km. By car you reach Albir in 45 min. Airport bus is available from Alicante airport. The bus is a good alternative for those who do not rent a car. There are also good bus connections in the area, including buses to Benidorm daily.
