Pilar de la Horadada is a charming and lively Spanish village all year round with a local fishmonger, charcuterie shop, school, sports centre with swimming pool and of course several really good restaurants. Along the main street there are several cafes and restaurants mixed with grocery stores and general stores. Here it is still mainly the locals who live and work all year round, which means that you do not notice the high pressure of the summer season in the same way as in Torre de la Horadada and Mil Palmeras. A genuine Spanish community to enjoy only a few kilometres from the fantastic sandy beaches down by the sea.
In terms of restaurants, we can highly recommend La Terrazita de Cristobal and El Gallego for meat lovers, Vinicore Gastrobar for those looking for a solid selection of good wines and tasty tapas, and Casa Araez for a superb weekend menu with good ingredients.
There is a market every Friday where the Spaniards traditionally buy all the fruit and vegetables for the coming week. Here you will also find olives, fresh flowers, toys and clothes. The market is open between 9am and 2pm.
