About La Mata

Living in La Mata

La Mata beach begins in the Torreblanca area in the south and ends with La Mata village in the north. It has always been an attractive area for Swedes and Scandinavians and it is easy to understand why. As early as the 1970s, Skanska began to build housing for Swedes here and the trend has continued.

Of course, there are also other nationalities in the area and it is a good mix of holiday and permanent housing. Here is something for everyone - everything from a small one-bedroom holiday apartment to a large luxury villa. In the summertime, Torreblanca and La Mata also attract Spaniards from within the country who flee the heat - the number of inhabitants increases significantly.

In addition to being a very nice and quiet area, it is also practical and comfortable. It is within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, shops and a shopping center with many shops. There is all kind of service you need to be able to live here and if you are looking for more life and movement you have reached Torrevieja center in half an hour walk. There are also several different bus lines to get to and from town.

The two and a half kilometer sandy beach is bordered by various restaurants and bars. Most are open year-round.

The beautiful beach invites you to many activities and you can also walk along the pleasant promenade which takes you several miles north towards Guardamar as well as south towards the town. Along the walk is the nature reserve of Las Dunas de La Mata, which means La Mata's sand dunes. It has a wooden promenade that reaches the coves of Cabo Cervera, where all the leisure and dining options are concentrated, with numerous bars, restaurants and beach bars. Parque Aromatico is also a popular walking area. Adjacent from Torreblanca is Aguas Nuevas where we find, among other things, the large sports center in Torrevieja. Here you will still find relatively affordable new production, with excellent communications into the city.

Much of the charm of what is another of the best areas of Torrevieja is its impressive surroundings, with the La Mata Natural Park. A space surrounded by the saltwater lake formed by the salt flats. The Molino del Agua park also stands out. This area is not as populated as Torrevieja. Tall buildings have not been built either. It communicates with Torrevieja through an urban bus.
