Mijas is divided into three different areas or neighborhoods, you could say. It is Mijas Pueblo, which is the part that is located up in the mountains, Las Lagunas, which is a modern residential area, and Mijas Costa, which is a 12 km long coastal strip with various small towns, with La Cala de Mijas located in the middle.
The coastal stretch includes El Chaparral, La Cala, El Combo, Calahonda and Riviera del Sol.
One of the longest beaches in Mijas Costa is called Calahonda and is over 4500 meters long and 25 meters wide. The beach is located right next to the town of Calahonda and is therefore a very popular beach. There are many bars and restaurants here.
