About Mijas Pueblo

About the Area

Mijas is divided into three different areas or neighborhoods you could say. It is Mijas Pueblo, which is the part that is up in the mountains, Las Lagunas, which is a modern built-up residential area, and Mijas Costa, which is a 12 km long coastal strip with various small resorts, where La Cala de Mijas is located in the middle.

The coastline includes El Chaparral, La Cala, El Combo, Calahonda and Riviera del Sol.

One of Mijas Costa's longest beaches is called Calahonda and is over 4,500 meters long and 25 meters wide. The beach is right next to the town of Calahonda and is therefore a very popular beach. There are many bars and restaurants here. This beach is very suitable for families as there are both lively beach bars and some that are much quieter.

La Cala de Mijas is a charming little village with all amenities. It is sometimes called a boutique fishing village. There is a great variety of different restaurants and bars, nice beaches and a cozy promenade.

If you like golf, there are many options nearby, such as La Cala Golf resort with its 3 spectacular 18-hole courses America, Europe and Asia

Furthermore, you will find Miraflores Golf, Calanova Golf club, Santana Golf, Mijas Golf and El Chaparral Golf in the municipality.

Mijas has about 80,000 inhabitants.

It takes about 30 minutes by car to Malaga airport.
